There's no place like home

Although, I don't really know where my home is these days. I pay rent in Brooklyn, NY but my boyfriend just bought a house and moved in yesterday which will hopefully one day house my kids, so maybe that is my home....

Anyway, backing up a bit, the rib wasn't broken but the doctor suspected I had torn the cartilage or the muscle and many of the ribs were out of place. I still had to take 7 weeks totally off of training. I was back in California for 2 1/2 weeks. It was wonderful. I forgot what paradise is. Warm and dry (instead of hot and humid) and it smells like trees (instead of trash). I worked a bit nannying, which was fun, and took the weekends to head to beautiful places like Kings Canyon and Mt. Shasta. I spent a lot of time with Corbin and got to make lots of music with my family. I finished the musical composition for the circus ground act and my amazing family helped me record a slightly rushed but workable recording. It was enough for the director to hear it with the voices and instruments and say it is great and I out-did myself. That was nice. Thanks family!

It is interesting, cuz now that I am back in NY and I am training full-time, I am happy to be back. I love the group I work with, (for the most part). I like using my body all day like that and collaborating of artistic projects. But the rib is hurting just a touch again (that is what it felt like in the beginning, so I am a little concerned). I like the company and the direction things are going.
We have performances all week next week and in August I will be going to Georgia on "tour" (really just to teach workshops for a week). But interestingly enough, when I was in California, I didn't miss it here at all, and although I like it here, I do miss many things about home.

Everyone seems to think the adventuresome life is so great. You know, the grass is always greener, but life is just life and yours is the only one you have. The beauty of life are the small and often quiet moments, fresh air and laughter and the people that you love. And often times, time off to spend doing whatever I choose that day is worth more than being the star in the show. Maybe it's just me.
If I could leave sooner, I would go home now, but contracts don't work as such. Maybe there are more things I need to learn here to be a more whole person.... who knows?

anyway, pictures from my trip to California:
(my musical family, my crazy boyfriend wearing my bikini top, Corbin's new house on the summit between Santa Cruz and Los Gatos, and my eyes in the sun while laying on a rock at the river in King's Canyon).
